The Greater Cincinnati Microenterprise Initiatives (GCMI) mission is to promote individual self-sufficiency and community economic development by stimulating and supporting entrepreneurship among low-to-moderate-income people.
GCMI provides Entrepreneurship Education programming and services for the purposes of individuals and businesses recognizing their abilities to identify opportunities for personal and professional growth.
We help businesses and organizations with a special focus on Brown and Black entrepreneurs recognize opportunities, evaluate their business model, set goals, and help them create an action plan in achieving those goals, which is essential to building a successful business. Our hope in building a community organization’s capacity is to uplift local initiatives by providing training and coaching that allows each organization to flourish and execute its ideas to improve, sustain, and build inclusive new community projects to empower neighborhoods and their members.

Company History
The Greater Cincinnati Microenterprise Initiative, Inc., was established in 1998. GCMI is an unprecedented partnership of human service agencies, local banks, and businesses working together to provide economic empowerment opportunities to individuals and communities through job creation and self-employment opportunities by stimulating and supporting entrepreneurship. GCMI is a non-profit 501(C) 3 organization located in Cincinnati, Ohio. GCMI's Business Coaches and Support Staff have over 60 years of small business and financial services experience. We provide not only access to capital but most importantly knowledge and business support to help our clients start and stay in business.
