Job Description

The Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile Jr. Foundation is dedicated to providing philanthropic
stewardship aimed at improving the quality of life for the people and communities of Greater Cincinnati
and Northern Kentucky. Through effective grantmaking and strategic leadership, the Foundation supports
innovative, bold, impactful and systemic initiatives in education, arts and culture, human services, as well
as in the civic and community arena. The Foundation is seeking to hire a Program Manager who has a
deep knowledge of our region to provide both operational and programmatic support to help further the
Foundation’s mission.

A Program Manager works with the President & CEO in developing and implementing policy and
programmatic activities related to all of the Foundation’s areas of giving (education, arts and culture,
human services, as well as in the civic and community arena), and is accountable for a portfolio of
investments and relationships to help strengthen the Foundation’s mission and drive community
priorities. This work includes, but is not limited to, developing and managing program and operational
strategies to help guide the Foundation’s philanthropic portfolio; identifying, researching, supporting and
promoting initiatives that align with the Foundation’s mission; developing proposals (both individually
and in collaboration with Foundation colleagues) and making funding recommendations; serving as a key
resource to Foundation and community colleagues regarding the needs of and the initiatives with the
community that align with the Foundation’s mission; attending meetings with current and prospective
grantees; convening and collaborating with external constituents to most effectively utilize and leverage
the Foundation’s giving strategy and community citizenship; conducting valuation strategies and
outcomes; and managing related grantmaking activities.

A Program Manager must have a deep understanding of the broad spectrum of philanthropy
including trends in giving and key issues for donors; demonstrate exceptional interpersonal, oral and
written communication skills, including the ability to interact with a variety of external and internal
audiences; possess creative visioning and strategic planning skills; and have proven leadership and
problem-solving experience. Demonstrated understanding of the value of inclusion, integrity, teamwork,
thoughtfulness, collaboration and relationship building, both internally and externally, is essential.
