Job Description

Great Parks is seeking an energized and qualified Director of Marketing & Communications to join our growing Marketing & Brand Strategy (MBS) division. The successful candidate will:

Promotes Great Parks’ mission, programs, events, and services through the development and application of communication and promotional programs and advertising campaigns.

Develops project timelines, workflows, and task management to ensure efficient operations, budget, and deadline goals are met.

Leads brand positioning and brand awareness efforts through coordinated marketing and communication plans as approved by the Chief of Marketing & Brand Strategy.

Ensures brand standards are followed to guarantee the integrity of the brand in all marketing and advertising pieces with support from the Creative Director and Chief of Marketing and Brand Strategy.

Supports and strategizes on the ongoing evolution of the Great Parks brand in collaboration with the Creative Director and Chief of Marketing & Brand Strategy.

Partners with outside vendors in the development and execution of media buys. Supervises media placement, tracks advertising, and evaluates results.

Responsible for ad hoc project management for marketing projects that arise, such as developing new project management tools, dashboard development, sourcing quotes, and new vendors, etc.

Own, maintain, and update the Marketing & Brand Strategy campaign calendar, proactively identifying changes or updates and seeking information from key stakeholders when needed to ensure the calendar is consistently up-to-date and accurate.

Communicate project updates and timelines with internal and external stakeholders to achieve project alignment.

Develops a 12-month marketing plan in collaboration with the Marketing & Brand Strategy team to establish measurable goals, target audiences, deadlines, project expectations, budgetary requirements, and task management.

Responsible for managing campaign project timelines, including tracking specific due dates that are required to achieve goals, tracking progress towards those goals, and continuously communicating with team members to ensure success in meeting deadlines.

Facilitates relationships with the media and prepares, reviews, and coordinates distribution of all official press releases with Great Parks public relations consultant.

Supports the Crisis Response team by ensuring the crisis communication plan remains up-to-date and accessible to stakeholders. Supports the Chief of Marketing & Brand Strategy on external and internal crisis communication efforts and ensures critical information is collected and disseminated.

Supports the website and digital communication team in ensuring the website and e-commerce are in-line with brand standards, and supports efforts to ensure a smooth customer journey and digital experience.

Responsible for managing all projects and campaigns utilizing project management software and ensuring timely and accurate updates are tracked in the project management software.

Verify deliverables are completed, and collateral is organized and stored appropriately for future access and use.

Record inefficiencies in current processes, identify roadblocks, document observations, and make improvement recommendations to the Chief of Marketing & Brand Strategy.

Lead intentional department project meetings and create agendas to ensure team meetings are efficient, purposeful, and productive. Responsible for post-meeting follow-up notes, action item documentation, and next steps outlined and delegated.

Responsible for aggregating and disseminating marketing and advertising metrics.

Assists Chief of Marketing & Brand Strategy in budgetary considerations, quotes, RFQs, and future budget planning.

May act as occasional backup for web content, photography, and video support, and community event support as needed.

Assist with other Marketing & Brand Strategy support tasks as needed, including but not limited to file management, board reports, and/or administrative responsibilities.

Proactively identify and provide solutions to complex creative problems and works to advance Great Parks brand both internally and externally.

Manages and develops a combination of staff, contractors, freelancers and vendors. Holds vendors accountable to expectations, budgets, and timelines.

Performs job duties in accordance with Great Parks’ policies, procedures, and performance expectations.

Maintains confidentiality of confidential and sensitive information.

Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and punctual attendance, and works outside of normal schedule as required including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Takes photos or videos as needed.

Occasional event or program attendance.

Performs special assignments and provides committee representation as needed.

Utilizes and promotes environmentally sustainable practices and processes.

Performs other job duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications or business from an accredited university is required
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience working in a marketing or communications role, with at least 3 of which in a leadership role.
  • Experience in creating marketing/advertising campaigns — from developing the vision and messaging platform to overseeing production on time and within budget.

Ability to document identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of original appointment as a condition of employment in compliance with Immigration Reform and Control Act requirements.

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License that meets GPHC current carrier guidelines.

Typical starting salary range for the position will be $45.35/hour ($94,328.00 annually) - $53.35/hour ($110,968.00 annually) depending on experience.
