Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, is responsible for supporting the company's strategic planning to promote diversity, inclusion, and equity for our employees and will serve as a consultant to our internal teams. Facilitating training, assisting our Talent Acquisition team with attracting and hiring a diverse workforce and monitoring progress through DEI key indicators ensuring diversity and inclusion are embedded into everything we do.

To drive this commitment, the role of DEI Coordinator requires strong collaboration and communication skills and someone who can challenge our people to think differently about how to build the best teams and drive our engagement through hiring, retention initiatives, development, and training. This role must be an active partner with all corporate & manufacturing locations to gauge and assess company culture, as well as other segments of HR to ensure inclusive practices across the employee experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Stays current on diversity programs and developments by maintaining contact with others in the field
  • Executes activities designed to improve our organization’s environment; helps to ensuring we foster a culture that is inclusive, innovative, willing to take risks, that proactively leverages multiple dimensions of diversity.
  • Understands current and future compliance landscape related to DEI and develops skills to help influence decision making.
  • Partner with our Talent functions to share Our Philosophy with diverse candidate pools by engaging in community outreach related activities that will yield positive results. Collaborate with Talent Acquisition, HR, and hiring managers to help ensure our selection process has alignment with our company culture.
  • Accountable for the day-to-day support of ERGs. Ensures each group is following their developed goals, strategies and action plans.
  • Observe coaching and consultation to individuals, managers, DEI champions, and groups regarding cross-cultural interactions. Serve as a change agent to provide solutions, resources, and training on DEI related topics.
  • Partners with key external organizations to enhance the organization's reputation around corporate social responsibility.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR Management or Business Administration, or related field preferred, but not required
  • A minimum of 1 year of professional experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion related roles and responsibilities
  • Experience facilitating diversity, equity, and inclusion workshops, and discussions; ability to create content is a plus
  • Excellent analytical, process, and project management skills to deliver detailed, data-driven work outputs to business partners
  • Highly strategic and systems thinker; able to seamlessly connect the dots to create a cohesive and compelling vision for talent and diversity at Worthington Industries.
  • Ability to influence change with others without having direct reporting authority.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment with multiple overlapping priorities.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills to interact effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills required
