Job Description
OVERVIEW: This position will lead the Employee Relations Center of Excellence, including ER Strategy, new policy development, implementation of processes and interventions for the entire organization, as it relates to Positive Employee Relations and our Labor Relations strategy.
SUBFUNCTION DEFINITION: Serves clients and HR as subject matter expert, collaborates and consults to ensure efficient and effective resolution of high level, high-risk matters. Focuses on education, compliance, policy creation and data analysis to promote a positive employee experience. Uses employee relations concepts and applies policies and procedures to resolve a variety of complex employee relations issues and situations.
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement and manage new and existing programs. Effectively organize work, establish priorities, and identify resource requirements, coordinate with internal partners and vendors. Determine and develop plans for achieving the long and short term goals of programs and projects. Lead, coordinate, and participate in projects that support and advance the business initiatives in the division, department and/or institution. Serve as an integral member of project teams to facilitate process improvement activities. Collaborate with others to implement and evaluate departmental or organization wide project plans. Accurately report tasks and status to project lead.
Serve as a resource for employee relations. Partner with HR, employees and management to promote and maintain positive employee relations (ER). Establish and maintain relationships to proactively identify, manage and resolve employee relations concerns; partner to create specific action plans for addressing individual employee behavior and/or performance concerns; identify resources to assist clients in addressing ER concerns.
Keep abreast of changes in the field of employee relations through relevant continuing education, seminars and literature. Practice utilizing consistent and standardized processes. Recommend changes to policies and practices to respond to regulatory changes, environmental changes, and changes due to advancements in the field of Human Resources. Interpret policies and counsel regarding responsibilities and rights as CCHMC employees; proactively identify, manage and facilitate the equitable resolution of job-related complaints and concerns; and conduct internal investigations and report findings as appropriate. Ensure consistent practices/decision making in ER within work group in order to mitigate risk and promote a professionally ethical work environment. Identify, analyze, and provide effective conflict resolution practices. Identify and recommend strategies to address current and future employee relations needs.
Provide and consistently document decisions in keeping with best practices and to minimize risk in employee relations situations. Complete encounter or investigation documentation in a timely fashion. Assist in the preparation of required and supporting documentation for: unemployment claims, conflict resolution claims, federal and state agency claims and employment related litigation. Assist in measuring, assessing and improving the effectiveness and efficiency of employee relations services. Analyze employee relations data to identify trends and offer solutions to effectively manage problematic trends. Assist in internal audits of employee relations issues and make recommendations to resolve issues in accordance with policies, practices, and procedures.
