Summary:

Conducts research and analysis on compensation programs, policies and practices. Coordinates the Western & Southern Financial Group’s (W&SFG) job evaluation program, ensuring positions are evaluated through market pricing and job evaluation programs. Conducts and participates in compensation surveys. Coordinates the preparation and distribution of the annual salary budgeting and planning process. Participates in incentive compensation design and analysis. Provides guidance to managers and HR Managers in the administration of the W&SFG compensation programs. Works with minimal supervision and is responsible to make an established range of decisions, escalating to Manager when necessary and updating Manager on a regular basis.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Administers position salary grade evaluation program by reviewing job descriptions, researching market data and obtaining additional information when necessary.

  • Participates in local and national surveys by furnishing W&SFG information on salaries and benefits. Analyzes results and presents to Director, Human Resources Compensation, to aid in making decisions regarding salary ranges, salary increases and benefit changes.

  • Creates special reports using the HRIS system and spreadsheet applications.

  • Coordinates the preparation, distribution and finalization of the staffing planning and merit increase planning process. Develops T&A for the timely completion of the total salary planning process.

  • Reviews, researches and/or provides input on salary recommendations based on established guidelines.

  • Assists in the development of incentive compensation plans. Conducts research and completes financial analysis for incentive programs.

  • Acts as a backup to the HRIS Systems Administrator. Performs functions in the absence of the System Administrator and performs Compensation recordkeeping functions as needed.

  • Prepares yearly Employment Information Report EEO-1 by coordinating information from various HRIS and payroll systems.

  • Exchanges information with Human Resources representatives of other local companies to keep management informed of industry policies and practices.

  • Updates the Salary Administration section of the Human Resources Manual.

  • Participates in special assignments by conducting research, preparing reports and providing recommendations.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Selection Criteria:
  • Demonstrated strong mathematical and analytical skills, including the ability to develop, analyze, interpret and project statistical information. Demonstrated experience identifying, quantifying and providing effective solutions for complex problems.

  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail with excellent organization skills. Must cite examples of organization and time management methods used to manage or prioritize workload demands.

  • Proven experience handling and effectively resolving customer problems.

  • Demonstrated experience maintaining a calm and professional demeanor when handling demanding situations.

  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to successfully interpret and communicate business needs between internal groups and external vendors in a clear, focused and concise manner.

    Work Setting:

    • This position works in an office setting and remains in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.

    • Requires visual acuity to read a variety of correspondence, reports and forms, and to prepare and analyze data in an accurate, neat and thorough manner.

    • Requires the ability to continuously make repetitive motions of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

    • Requires the ability to express or exchange accurate information orally.

    • Frequently moves around the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. While accessing file cabinets, frequently uses upper extremities to reach by extending hands and/or arms in any direction.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, accounting, finance or statistics preferred, or seven or more years of professional experience in human resources, accounting, finance or compensation.

Computer Skills and Knowledge of Hardware & Software Required:

  • Excellent spreadsheet and HRIS database applications knowledge required.

Certifications & Licenses (i.e., Series 6 & 63, CPA, etc.):

  • None required.

Position Demands:

  • Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects.
