Job Description

The City of Cincinnati’s Office of Environment and Sustainability (OES) is excited to announce a new full-time, salaried role – Energy Technician! This role will provide essential technical leadership and administrative support as part of the OES Energy Team. Working closely with the Energy Manager, this professional will support the achievement of key objectives in the City’s 2023 Green Cincinnati Plan, particularly within the City Operations, Buildings & Energy, and Mobility Focus Areas. OES seeks a professional to focus on reducing city facility and fleet vehicle emissions as part of the broader OES mission to build a more sustainable, equitable, and resilient Cincinnati. The ideal candidate will have some experience in project management, data analysis, and creative problem-solving as well as technical knowledge regarding energy management, energy efficiency, and/or vehicle electrification. Examples of work include:

  • Supporting internal departments to navigate energy audits and energy management to save energy and city resources

  • Leading the launch and execution of city and grant-funded facility and fleet projects

  • Gathering and analyzing data to inform energy projects and overall greenhouse gas emissions reduction strategies

  • Managing procurement and contracts for energy and electric vehicle-related services

  • Educating residents regarding the city’s aggregation program
