Job Description

Churchill Downs Incorporated (“CDI”) is seeking an Internal Auditor to perform audit work primarily at its Turfway & Newport Historical Racing Facilities. The Turfway Property is located along the Florence, KY I-71 retail corridor and will also include a race track, food and beverage outlets, and entertainment facilities. The Newport Property is just off I-471 in a heavily trafficked retail area of downtown Newport, KY and houses Historical Racing Machines, a Simulcast Betting Parlor and a food and beverage outlet. Additionally, this position would be made available to assist with work at CDI’s gaming facilities in Louisville, KY on occasion. Travel is estimated to be approximately 25%, but would mostly be between the Turfway and Newport properties.
FUNCTION

Performs audits of the operations for compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies and standard operating procedures. This includes, but is not limited to, gaming revenue cycles, cage operations, currency transaction reporting, admissions and revenue tax reporting, and other possible areas of operations. Assist with audits of corporate, racing, or other regional gaming operations, as needed.



SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists in developing and planning a comprehensive, risk-based audit program.
Executes on-going compliance audits of the policies and procedures for revenue-producing departments.
As directed, conducts operational audits to ensure that the procedures and practices are easily understood and executed by the associates assigned to those functions.
Compile audit reports that summarize audit findings; recommend corrective action to management.
Assists independent accounting firms with their annual audits.
Ensures compliance with all federal, employment, and gaming laws of state.
Provides development and training to associates as required.
Prepares quarterly audit summaries of audit work.
Develops a strong understanding of internal controls and their impact on related business processes.
Identifies areas in which operational efficiencies or cost savings could be achieved on assigned audits.
Analyzes data obtained for evidence of deficiencies in controls, duplication of effort, extravagance, fraud, or lack of compliance with laws, government regulations, and management plans, policies or procedures.
Assists with internal investigations.
Performs observations and analysis of departmental procedures to ensure compliance and operational efficiencies.
Determines existence, proper accountability, and safeguarding of company assets through examination, confirmation and other audit procedures.
Performs duties in a safe manner; report any potential safety hazards to management staff.
Maintains an updated knowledge of gaming laws and regulations.
Performs any reasonable, temporarily assigned job duties outside the position’s job description, where, in the Company’s judgment, those duties are necessary in the interest of efficiency, productivity, or guest service.
Other duties as assigned.
