Job Description

The Demand Planner will be accountable for implementing the global demand forecast process to produce a rolling twelve month forecast by month, customer, and item. This forecast will be the basis for production planning and inventory control within the business globally, as well as providing the platform for monthly financial forecasting and budgeting. This individual will work closely with the Sales organization worldwide to implement demand planning and forecasting tools and to introduce a disciplined process of deviation analysis and continuous improvement.

Essential Functions

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on demand planning tools and techniques
  • Lead weekly forecast variance reviews to identify off-track accounts and drive corrective actions
  • Lead global monthly demand reviews with site and corporate leadership
  • Coordinate with the commercial and finance teams to dollarize the forecast
  • Responsible for executing the statistical engine
  • Participate in the Global S&OP processes and provide insights on demand planning and forecasting
  • Participate in NAFTA Capacity Planning
  • Liaise with operations and supply chain to resolve issues that arise in the production and material planning processes
  • Produce data and assist in resolution of supply issues requiring order prioritization, allocation, or rationing
  • Perform AD-Hoc analysis to produce data-driven insights to be leveraged by the organization
  • Develop issues documents to drive decisions on raw material sourcing or production when demand projections create risk and/or uncertainty
  • Assist in the development and execution of the annual budgeting processes
  • Identify areas for process improvements in the demand planning and forecasting methodologies

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or Materials Management preferred)
  • 5+ years’ experience in a supply chain or materials management role in an industrial B2B environment
  • Advanced excel skills are required, including proficiency in complex formulas, pivot tables and data analysis
  • Experience with a complex ERP system (Oracle is highly preferred)
  • Experience using demand planning software (Demantra is highly preferred)
  • Operational experience in production control or planning is highly preferred
  • CPIM certification from APICS would be desirable
