Our team is looking for a collaborative and passionate construction project manager to perform oversight of Great Parks’ construction work and ensure our ambitious design goals are executed with high standards of excellence and assurance of fiscal health. The successful candidate will have the following duties:

  • Performs daily inspection and observation of multiple construction projects.
  • Provides thorough and accurate documentation of daily inspection activities, including field verification measurements, calculations of work performed by contractors, and weather conditions affecting work.
  • Performs all duties in a safe and professional manner by maintaining health and safety over all assigned project sites. Recognizes unsafe conditions and takes appropriate actions to address safety issues, including use of personal protective equipment by staff or appropriate measures to protect the public from hazards. Prioritizes safety of visitors, staff and contractors. Implements and enforces site specific safety plans, job safety analysis, and weekly toolbox talks.
  • Reviews construction work and determines the conformity, or deviation of, such work from project plans and specifications.
  • Coordinates, documents, and communicates all field sampling and testing required by the project, including asphalt sampling and testing, concrete sampling and testing, soil sampling and testing, aggregate sampling and testing, and equipment commissioning by consultant inspectors.
  • Communicates collaboratively with contractors, trade partners, consultants and leadership.
  • Communicates clearly and positively with the public.
  • Oversees construction in accordance with industry best practice, and State of Ohio requirements, including prevailing wages.
  • Reviews and recommends change orders.
  • Consults with landscape architects, architects and engineers regarding change orders, shop drawing approvals and other architectural and engineering related issues and as required to review technical accuracy of construction work.
  • Maintains correspondence with contractors, reviews contractors’ payment requisitions and clarifies other construction issues.
  • Reviews and researches contractors’ dispute claims and advises Manager of Construction on potential solutions.
  • Resolves field condition issues, appropriately escalating to the Manager of Construction as needed.
  • Maintains Safety Data Sheet binders, site specific plans, daily and weekly safety paperwork.
  • Take and maintain progress photos properly tagged with dates and descriptions,
  • Process and execute RFI and submittal logs, reporting of potential change items and approvals.
  • Assist with bidding, cost engineering and plan reviews as needed
  • Performs daily huddles, plan of the day (POD) meetings and weekly coordination meetings as appropriate, including preparation of agendas and meeting minutes.
  • Produces daily and weekly construction project reports, maintains accurate records, keeps calculation books, and organizes and leads other meetings as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

An appropriate combination of education, training, course work and experience may qualify the applicant to demonstrate required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of an acceptable qualification is:

Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field is required.

A minimum of 3 years of construction oversight or inspection experience on projects related to Great Parks’ anticipated capital development (buildings, civil infrastructure, parks).

Ability to document identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of original appointment as a condition of employment in compliance with Immigration Reform and Control Act requirements.

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

State Driver License that meets current GPHC carrier guidelines. OSHA 30 card required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire
