PURPOSE OF POSITION: Lead strategic and business planning at an institutional level. Oversee the development of institutional; programmatic and department business and strategic plans. Provide leadership for physician and hospital relationship management; strategy; and execution.


REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

·Strategic Planning
Plan and direct the process for the continual update of the organization's strategic plan. Lead the development and producing of the plan in timeframes as determined appropriate by the CEO and SVP. Directly and indirectly assist in the development of organizational plans and implementation strategies. Provide, communicate and implement strategic, operational and programmatic plans and policies to achieve the mission, vision and values of Cincinnati Children's.
·Business & Programmatic Planning
Lead the development of strategies and tactics related to strategic and business plans and opportunities at CCHMC. Ensure the organization has the capability to create appropriate business plans required for specific projects. Develop business planning to a high skill level throughout the organization. Oversee the development and execution of an organizational plan to create superior planning and analytical capacity within the organization. Working with senior management and Business Development, identify the potential for movement of services beyond the immediate primary service area and the mechanisms to develop services in the secondary service area (beyond Primary Cincinnati market). Assess the appropriate allocation now and in the future of resources within the organization - space allocations, facility allocations, physicians and the geographical distribution of these resources to maximize the benefit to the organization.
·Analytical & Market Capabilities
Drive the development of necessary and innovative analytical techniques and resources to enable effective business planning, including outpatient market analysis, competitive intelligence and financial analysis. Utilize these analytical capabilities to improve decision making at the organizational level.
·Department Management
Recommend a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide services. Direct the control and distribution of present and future FTEs. Manage the selection, development, motivation, appraisal and discipline of division personnel. Ensure that job requirements and goals for each position are clear to employees. Ensure that orientation and in-service training and continuing education are provided to division personnel. Determine, ensure and document that personnel have adequate, specific training and orientation and regularly demonstrate satisfactory levels of competence. Determine and monitor implementation of continuing education goals of the division. Provide and coordinate education for personnel through structured presentations and unstructured interactions. Promote professional input to in-service training programs. Determine and document the qualifications and competence of division personnel. Assess, develop, implement and maintain appropriate divisional policies, procedures, job descriptions and philosophy as consistent with Cincinnati Children's policies and values. Manage staff and functions to appropriately evolve the department and the role within the organization through close work with all academic divisions, patient services, finance and marketing.
·Land Use & Facility Master Planning
Manage the land use and facilities master plan process, Management updates, and as required, implementation.
·Primary and Secondary Market Strategy
Develop strategy and action plan for PSA/SSA provider relationships (hospitals, systems, and community pediatricians), working in partnership with Business Development, HNCC and others. As part of this, explore new and expanded services to expand CCHMC value proposition and attractiveness.
·Provider Relations Strategy
Lead the design and execution of local and regional physician relations strategies to support the organization's strategic objectives. In partnership with key departments, develop short and long range strategies to increase referrals, revenue and growth from primary and secondary service areas. Recommend appropriate models to support, execute, and provide account management for agreements with hospitals and systems.
·Physician Relationship Management
In collaboration with Leadership and other departments (HNCC, end to end Primary Care efforts), develop and drive strategy for relationships with providers (adult hospitals, community Peds, etc.). Enhance communication & connection between community-based physicians and Cincinnati Children's. Focus on strategies supporting physicians in strategically building and keeping domestic relationships.
·Practice Affiliations/Relationships
Identify and understand community practice needs and expectations and lead the development of strategies to meet them in partnership with key departments. Define strategy and then offer and execute alignment agreements with private practices. Build out capability to manage practices through expanded suite of tools and proactive selling. Develop sales strategies tailored to meet the needs of each unique provider. Collaborate in governance for owned or aligned practices.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE


Required:
·Master's Degree
·10 years related experience
·Experience in strategic planning, business planning, and market analysis
·Operational and management experience

Preferred:
·Experience in healthcare OR Experience in a complex medical center
