Job Description

GENERAL FUNCTION:

Design and administer Sarbanes Oxley Compliance program and processes that support and implement the Enterprise Risk Management Framework. Participate in the development of communication plans, education programs and projects that promote an understanding of financial risks, risk culture and risk management.


Responsible and accountable for financial risk as it pertains to internal controls over financial reporting by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank’s risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting financial risks.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Demonstrate an understanding of Sarbanes Oxley program elements, methodology, governance, standards and procedures, including templates and overall framework.

-Design, develop, and execute Sarbanes-Oxley methodology utilizing tools that are automated and integrated wherever possible. The objective of this program is to assist the lines of business and functional groups in identifying, assessing, monitoring, measuring, reporting and mitigating financial risks and in testing controls.

-Coordinate the implementation of system-based tools with Information Technology.

-Serve as a key resource and provide guidance to users of SOX compliance processes.

-May assist in the training provided over SOX program methodology and procedures.

-As assigned, manage the integration of SOX control assessments across the enterprise, combining existing assessments stored in multiple locations, and linking assessments with data on KRIs, operational losses and internal/external audit findings.

-Assist in maintaining and updating key SOX program documents, coordinating the development of communication plans and education programs, and performing other key projects, as requested.

-Ensure that training is provided on the program standards and procedures.

-Facilitate or participate in SOX tollgate and walkthrough meetings, provides and documents data driven credible challenge and expertise.

-Ensure SOX requirements are appropriately addressed in standards and procedures.

-Validate identified risks and controls over financial reporting, and provides expertise to identify additional risks and recommended controls.

-Ensure projects/initiatives follow the prescribed path to ensure appropriate risk review is completed.

-Continually evaluate SOX program design and consider program enhancements based on regulatory changes.

-Maintain program documentation ensuring roles and responsibilities are clearly defined.

-Oversee periodic reviews of LOB procedures and provides guidance for new processes.

-Develop and prepare reporting.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

-Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.

-5 years of experience with increasing responsibility working in public accounting and/or internal audit, finance or accounting with a solid understanding of SOX, US GAAP, and internal control environments.

-Previous management experience preferred.

-Working knowledge and understanding of financial risk functions and programs for financial services industry.

-Requires broad knowledge of banking products, services and operations.

-Understanding of the core elements of an effective financial risk management program desired.

-Demonstrated intellectual curiosity, ability to identify risks and ability to apply broadly and drive conceptual framework to tactics.

-Professional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels of management.

-Must have strong analytical skills and possess the ability to interpret and apply policies and regulations across a complex business (es).

-Must have a thorough understanding of banking regulations.

-Strong organizational skills.

-Must be results and goal oriented, possess sound judgment and ability to apply logical/critical thought processes when approaching work or making recommendations for solutions.

-Must be able to maintain independence and objectivity in all aspects of position.

-Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

-Demonstrated ability to learn applications and internal banking systems.
