Driver - Meals on Wheels - (Part-time)

Our Meals on Wheels program is seeking a Driver for 2 days per week. The ideal driver candidate will have strong communication skills and experience serving the needs of elders. The primary purpose of the driver position is to deliver meals to Meals on Wheels clients.
Since 1989, Deupree Meals on Wheels (MOW), located in Hyde Park, has provided older adults in the eastern portion of Cincinnati with warm, nutritious meals delivered right into their homes. The program strives to supplement family support by providing older adults with a healthy meal and social contact. The program is administered in partnership with the Council on Aging of Southwestern Ohio.
As a Part-time Driver you can expect to:
•Delivers meals in a company vehicle, assuring that all safety regulations are followed.
•As an ERS team member, upholds the philosophy of Person Centered Care while performing duties; whenever possible acts to restore and/or provide Purpose, Choice and Freedom to the older adults we serve.
•Reports hazardous conditions and accidents immediately
•Assists the Meals on Wheels program with loading the meal carrier for delivery.
•Develops and maintains a good rapport with clients. Notifies MOW Coordinator of any unusual situations that occur during delivery of meals.
•Maintains the company vehicle in good working condition, including but not limited to keeping the gas tank full, checking the oil, and recording accurate mileage. Notifies MOW Supervisor of any repairs needed on company vehicle.
•Documents in writing the delivery of meals on each route.
•Makes sure to see client and check on their well-being.
Minimum Qualifications:

•Possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and good driving record
•Be a high school graduate or equivalent
•Have compassionate and effective communication skills with older adults
•Previous truck driving experience a plus
•Have the ability to read maps
•Be able to read, write and understand the English language and speak the language in an understandable manner
