Position Expectations and Essential Duties
· Develop a positive, joyful and structured classroom environment that engages and motivates students to achieve their fullest potential
· Foster relationships with students, families and faculty
- Communicate and meet with families regarding the academic and social-emotional growth of their child
- The ability to work effectively as a valued and collaborative team member
- Display empathy and compassion
- Actively embrace and demonstrate cultural competence in all aspects of practice
- Assume responsibility for the academic progress of students, with a high sense of urgency and ownership towards quantifiable results
- Developing creative lessons that correlate with our curriculum, goals, and objectives
- Prepare and deliver lesson plans with the ability to modify accordingly
- Use assessments, classroom performance and other tools to accurately monitor student progress and drive instruction
- Ability to use technological tools to enhance student learning and communicate with parents, i.e. newsletters, Dojo etc. Use computers, audiovisual aids, and other equipment and materials to supplement instruction and student engagement.
- Ability to teach a full range of elementary school subjects
- Develop and sustain relationships with colleagues, parents, and members of the Mansion Day School community that are professional, collegial, and collaborative
- Manage confidentiality aspect of student, parent, and colleague relationships
- Provide periodic updates to parents related to student progress via both written reports and in-person conferences
- Display authenticity, honesty and integrity
- Contagious optimism and enthusiasm
Preferred Qualifications
We are looking for an educator who is interested in engaging children and immersing them in the wonder of learning.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a relevant field is preferred
- A teaching certificate is preferred
- Experience working as an elementary school teacher with highly capable learners preferred
- Background check clearance
- Capacity to accurately reflect on one’s practice and engage in a professional community that strives for continued excellence
- Ability to establish and maintain productive, collaborative relationships with others.
- Understanding of child development and the role of Social/Emotional Learning in building positive, educational environments
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Enthusiasm for teaching young children

- Candidates advancing to the demonstration teaching round during the interview process will be required to provide two or three professional references.
Salary will be discussed with the Head of School with qualified candidates.
