The Accounting Specialist may perform the following duties:

  • Manages the bookkeeping for Great Parks Forever in a separate software system including preparing deposits, recording entries, monthly bank reconciliation and generating reports for the board.
  • Prepares financial statements and year-end reports for Great Parks Forever.
  • Assists with Great Parks Forever annual audit.
  • Records issuance of gift cards and motor vehicle permits. Maintains distribution log and records beginning and ending numbers as reference.
  • Manages the purchasing card program for the agency. Performs monthly audits of purchasing card usage, which are provided to the Leadership Team for review. Provides data to Purchasing Card Compliance Officer for quarterly reports to Board of Park Commissioners.
  • Updates the cash flow report which is distributed to the Leadership Team weekly.
  • Maintains capital asset database in the Fixed Assets and Enterprise Asset Management software. Records all capital asset purchases, sales, and disposals.
  • Review agency items to be placed for auction on the online auction site. Assist employees during the auction process.
  • Files monthly sales tax and quarterly gas tax refunds.
  • Prepares bank deposits when needed.
  • Assists with several cash audits on an annual basis at random times during the year.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Exhibits regular and punctual attendance.
  • Performs job duties in accordance with Great Parks’ policies, procedures, and performance expectations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

An appropriate combination of education, training, course work and experience may qualify the applicant to demonstrate required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of an acceptable qualification is:

  • Associate degree in finance, accounting, or other business-related field required
  • 5 years’ experience in finance, accounting, or a related analytical field.
  • Demonstrable skill in Excel software
  • Experience in Blackbaud and QuickBooks preferred

Ability to document identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of original appointment as a condition of employment in compliance with Immigration Reform and Control Act requirements.

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

State Driver License that meets current GPHC carrier guidelines.
