Job Description

GENERAL FUNCTION:

Coordinates the technical research of taxation issues. Manages the implementation and ongoing maintenance of tax planning initiatives.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank’s risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Tax Research and Planning
  • Coordinate the technical research of taxation issues under the direction of the Director of Tax Research & Planning.
  • Manages the implementation of tax planning initiatives and provides post implementation follow-up to ensure the ongoing effectiveness of the planning strategy.
  • Provides ongoing consultation on tax issues relating to corporate structure including structural and procedural changes to legal entities.
  • Tax representative in various bank planning and revenue initiatives that affect legal entity structure.
  • Generate tax savings ideas, which add value to the organization.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director or Director of Tax Research and Planning.
  • Staff Development.
  • Develop and motivate professional staff through example and instruction.
  • Assist staff with complicated state return issues. Develop relationships with peer group in other divisions to provide contacts and create a network of professionals to facilitate effective flow of information.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Pre-Law, or equivalent experience.
  • CPA or JD required.
  • Minimum 7 years Big 4 experience or equivalent in Banking or Corporate Tax.
  • Must have experience with banking taxation issues.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, online and hard-copy research products essential, Corptax software products helpful.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills imperative. Integrity and a desire to work in a team atmosphere is essential.
