Company History
YWCA Greater Cincinnati was founded in 1868 and was the fifth YWCA association in the United States. At its inception, YWCA championed initiatives including a women’s employment bureau, minimum wage, protective labor laws, women’s suffrage, and job training for women. YWCA Greater Cincinnati was at the forefront of racial justice advocacy, establishing the first integrated cafeteria where interracial groups could eat in the 1950s. Since the 1970s, YWCA has provided services to victims of intimate partner violence and their children. The organization strives to build a coordinated community effort to provide the most comprehensive approach to prevention and intervention of intimate partner violence in the Greater Cincinnati area.
